Equitable Life Update
There has been a lot of media coverage about Equitable Life since the Parliamentary Ombudsman, Ann Abraham, issued the report into the Regulation of Equitable Life in the period up to 2001, in July 2008.
The report makes a number of recommendations, including setting up a compensation fund for Policy holders who have been affected, but contains no details of the value or eligibility for any compensation that may become payable. The Government have announced that they will respond to the report in the autumn.
Pensions Trust currently has no more information than that available through the media, but will continue to monitor the situation and if there are any opportunities to reclaim monies on behalf of IBM Pension Plan members, they will be pursued.
